Distributed Storage Tech Preview

At VMworld 2012 held in SF there where a couple of tech preview sessions about software defined storage.
This new technology is called ”Virtual Volumes” (vVols), What is this all about, and where is it going?

The new vVol approach is rather interesting. The Virtual Volumes technology is embedded right inside the vSphere hypervisor, being part of the core technology without any virtual appliances.
